Wait At The Throne Of The King

Sitting…breathing in…breathing out…

I choose to be like Mary:

As Jesus and his disciples were on their way, he came to a village where a woman named Martha opened her home to him. She had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet listening to what he said. But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. She came to him and asked, “Lord, don’t you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me!”

“Martha, Martha,” the Lord answered, “you are worried and upset about many things, 42 but only one thing is needed. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.” {Luke 10: 38-42}

Today I choose to sit at the feet of my King–at the foot of the Throne.

I will wait patiently for His plans to pan out and not concoct my own grand plans and schemes.

I will wait, not idly, but rather busy in the WORD of TRUTH — seeking His answers. Seeking His guidance. Seeking His ways.

I will wait and offer up forgiveness when a friend lets me down.

I will wait, not jump to conclusions nor lash out when an argument erupts with a loved one.

I will wait and worship Jesus even when I want to jump up and do SOMETHING…anything.

I will wait at the throne and turn to Jesus for fulfillment instead of running out for retail therapy.

I will wait…

at the throne…

the mercy-adorned, grace-filled, beautiful, lovely, magnificent…

THRONE of my King JESUS.

Wait At The Throne Of The King — 7 Comments

  1. Waiting is the singlemost difficult thing for me to do…I’ve failed at it time and time again. I especially fail at making my mind stop making plans. Even during my worship time sometimes I notice my mind wandering! Am I the only one?

    • Ryan! Girl, you are TOTALLY not alone in this. This is difficult for me to especially when it has been a busy day at work and then I rush off to church/worship. I’ve started a bit of a routine mid-day before I head off to worship. I’ve started to pray that God will calm my mind and prepare my heart for meaningful worship. This sets me up for more connection when worship time at church comes around. Hmmm…this gives me an idea for future blog post!

  2. Good idea Sarah :) I need to stop rushin from activity to activity and just take a moment to STOP and ask Him to take over my wayward mind. My Past life was 22 years of doing everything for myself, and even now it’s so hard to just let go and let God.

  3. Sarah,
This is exactly the message God wanted me to hear tonight. I am in one of the toughest waiting times that a woman can be in and I just need to sit at the thrown and worship my Jesus. If I focus on His truths, maybe my mind will stop racing and running every single scenario possible. Thank you for your post! ~Michelle

  5. It is Friday night, almost 7pm …. just got home from the gym.
I plopped down at the computer, talking at God about Friday night/another weekend/ALONE!!!
I said, “Speak to me somewhere on here please….” Opened my email and a friend provided this link.
Wait ……. Be Still ……….. Hope in Me ………….. Though He slay me, yet I will trust Him.
It’s the same – O ……….. but that is God. Consistant, Persistant, only knows Truth, cannot lie….
As I am into my 7th year waiting for a prodigal wife’s return that God has said many times/ many ways WILL HAPPEN.
I know she will, I just need to keep my faith and my pathetically human “needs” at bay.

    Therewillbeaday!
