Worship At The Throne

I thought I would take the next three days to share with you some backbone and inspiration for my book Stress Point. Each chapter is split up into different segments of Worshiping At The Throne Of The King, Waiting At The Throne Of The King and Finding Focus On Him Alone –– applying these concepts to each and every life issues or stress points.

Today I’m afraid I must take my own advice and worship at the throne of my King even when stress and anxiety threaten my sanity.

Stress of potentially drowning in a ginormous to-do list…

Anxiety that I won’t live up to expectations of others…

My heart pounded as a ball of nervous energy formed in my stomach. No amount of exercise and sweat would ease this nervous energy and calm me down. Would I measure up? Would I get another chance? Can I handle everything currently on my plate?

After I realized that my efforts to quell my anxiety were futile I remembered…

I MUST Worship At The Throne Of My King.

This concept stemmed from Hebrews 4:16

Let us then fearlessly and confidently and boldly draw near to the throne of grace (the throne of God’s unmerited favor to us sinners), that we may receive mercy [for our failures] and find grace to help in good time for every need [appropriate help and well-timed help, coming just when we need it]. {Amplified Bible}

While I draw near to the throne of grace to petition for anxiety relief, the very ONE who occupies the mercy-filled, grace-abundant throne is due all my worship. For when I worship Jesus even when my nerves and anxiety loom heavy on my heart and mind, I’m reminded of His greatness and His ability to offer peace. When I worship at the throne, my attitude and perspective change.

And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God.  And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. {Colossians 3:15-17 ESV}

With a heart of worship and thankful attitude I’m reminded that…

God loves me no matter how far I fall short of worldy measuring sticks.

Jesus has His strong hand on every area of life if I chose to hand over my stress points and release control.

The peace of Christ outweighs any ball of nerves at the pit of my stomach.

So what do you think about this concept of Worshiping At The Throne Of The King? What areas in your life {career, money, dating, relationships, fill in the blank} do you need to take straight to His throne?

Let’s chat…leave a comment.

Worship At The Throne — 15 Comments

  1. This is so true! As a student, I’m often very stressed and lately it’s been about finances. One Sunday morning during praise & worship I was a little pouty and not feeling like praising that morning because of all of the difficulties I had been facing the past few weeks. I then remembered Phil. 4:4 “Rejoice in the Lord ALWAYS, and again I say, Rejoice!” Once I began rejoicing and praising Him, He blessed me with a peace that surpasses all understanding, and during praise & worship I got a text message of news that cured my financial problems! Our God is so good and faithful!

  2. I think my career is my stress point. And my relationship with my blood family. Things have gotten difficult and I need guidance…and a direction to channel my efforts. I kinda feel like a spinning top….or someone who is running all the time. I think spending some time with the Lord….in the Word…will help quell the tide that is rising up in me…my flesh is quite powerful when it tries to figure everything out.

    • Brooke! I’m so sorry to hear you are having a rough patch. You have the right attitude, though…spending time in prayer and reading the Bible will give you some good perspective. Career and family stress is kind of a universal thing and you are definitely not alone. Let me know how I can encourage you, ok?

  3. Congratulations on your published book, Sarah! Your love and enthusiasm for the Lord is evident in your video. I heard about you through P31. Great devotional! What a blessing to see that God is the center of your life as a twenty-something young woman. That did not happen for me until my early forties. Better late than never, but what heartache I endured prior to that. Life will always contain stress, but what a great foundation you have as you trust in Christ and let His Word guide you! Thank you for sharing your journey and reminding others to not worry, “but seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you” (Matt. 6:33).

  4. I would have to say Relationships.. I just had a friendship end.. it was very very hurtful and I am leaving it in Gods hands cause I have doen everything i know to do.. my friend is acting liek a fool like it says in Proverbs and doesnt want to listen to anything I have to say. I just have to pray for her…. I feel like saying what Pam said I dont know what to do anymore! I am so afraid to make new friends.!

    • I’m sorry to hear about your friend. Yes…that certainly does hurt your heart and make you skiddish of opening up to anyone else. I think I suggest praying through any new, potential relationships or friendships and ask God to help you open your heart. For when we don’t open ourselves up to new people and friendships, we might miss out on something really great!
