Make God Smile

Take a peek in my journal entry for this morning. I love the idea that we can make God smile as He is pleased with us. Every now and then I share some pages and words from my journal. Please know these are just real and raw thoughts which are unedited and not scrubbed to look pretty.

Ultimately it does not matter whether we are here or gone; our purpose stays fixed, and that is to please Him. {2 Corinthians 5:9 THE VOICE}

This is my daily goal, Lord, to please You. I can’t go do this if I’m left up to my own devices for I will fail You. But, I pray that Your Holy Spirit will flood my heart, flood my mind and influence my actions so that will make You smile upon me, Lord.

Help me to not attempt to just be the “good girl” today because it is the right thing to do. Rather, help me to desire Your smile deep down in my heart because pleasing You is what I’m made to do. It is what satisfies my soul.

I know there will be days where I will not please You, I will go astray and disobey you. May those days be few and far between as I choose to make you smile.

I look forward to the day where we will sit face to face and recount all of the smiles.

Is it ever your goal to make God smile? Take some time to touch base with Jesus today…

  1. Just what I needed to read…yesterday I let words of discouragement out of my lips when I was provoked by a dear one…and felt like I couldn’t get back with my God. Reading this passage helped me realise that there can be days when I go astray…Lord, let those days be few!

  2. I love the paragraph about the “good girl”…this sums me up lately. I realized that I have allowed myself to fall into a rut of just being good enough and not truly giving my whole self over to the Lord. Thank you for sharing this!

    • Rachel! Yes. It is easy for those of us who “follow the rules” to want to make God pleased just so we can be the “good girl.” It is when our motives change towards really pleasing Him because He is worthy that we transform our hearts!
