Advent: Awe and Wonder Day 18

Day 18 Awe and Wonder

I pray for you, ya know. In addition to begging God for His words and not my own agenda, I pray that you will see through my thoughts, my ramblings, my journals and use this space as a catalyst for your own conversation with Jesus. Let us press on towards our goal of seeking Awe and Wonder this Advent. Let us not allow the familiar distractions of stress, emotions, buying, wrapping, gifting to divert our eyes toward the heavenlies and sing heart songs such as, O Come Let Us Adore Him.

Press on toward the goal friends. Keep praying and seeking. Keep digging into His holy sustenance, the bread of Life, The WORD…and seeking. Keep lifting up your voices in song and seeking. He is worthy of our worship. He is worthy of our time. He is worthy of our attention.

Today’s Scripture from THE VOICE Advent Reading: Malachi 3:1-3

Join me in some prayer journaling. Grab your pen and paper and let’s converse with the Lord. Each verse of the Scripture reading for today is broken down in the space below. Use the prayer prompts as starting points. Journal away…scribble your thoughts…let Him hear Your praise!

Verse 1:

These are the words of the Eternal, Commander of heavenly armies:

Eternal One: Pay attention! I am sending My messenger,
and he will clear the road ahead for Me.
The Lord you seek will suddenly arrive at His temple.
And the Messenger of God’s covenant, your soul’s delight,
Watch, because He, too, is coming.

Journal:

Father, just as You sent John the Baptist to prepare the way for Jesus, help Me to clear the path in my heart, too. Show me the distractions in my life that block me from all out worship of You this Advent…

Verse 2:
Can anyone live through the day when He arrives?
Will anyone be left standing when He appears?
He is a purifying fire;
He is like lye soap.

Journal:

Lord, I await Your coming! As I celebrate the first Advent––the first coming––I look toward the day where I will see You face to face. I imagine it will be like…

Give me a heart, Lord, that looks for Your coming on a daily basis. Help me to live my life where I’m constantly seeking Your presence…

Verse 3:

Like a refiner of silver,
He will purify the descendants of Levi—
Until they are pure, unalloyed gold and silver.
Then they will draw near to the Eternal One,
Presenting offerings with righteous, clean hands.

Journal:

My offering to You today is my righteous life for I know I am only clean because of Jesus…

Show me today how I need to be refined, purified, forgiven. Give me the strength to ask for forgiveness and to then change my ways…

Use this time today to celebrate Advent by quieting your heart and listening to what God has to speak over You through His word.

Have a Merry 18th Day of Advent!
