To celebrate our first week of the Just RISE UP! online study let’s have fun with an old LIVE IT OUT! standby…The LIST. This is a fun way to get to know each other. It is also something that keeps me intentionally exploring what I love, what I don’t love, what I’m into these days…just fun lists.
Because we have been discussing a Life of Praise from Chapter 1 of Just RISE UP! this week’s list will have a few questions to get us thinking and sharing.
Read the LIST prompts below. I’m going to share my answers and I invite YOU to do the same in the comments.
~What is one thing you praised God about this week? Something you just HAD to clap your hands and say, thank you, Lord!
*After spending time declaring outloud and on social media that I would not seek the approval or acceptance from people, but live right here and right now in my kingdom purpose, the Lord sweetly showed me His approval and acceptance.
~Look outside your window right where you are. What are things you see in your world that you should praise God for His beauty and creativity?
*Right now I see a mixture of evergreen pinetrees mixed with other trees with leaves of bright yellow, orange, and red. Thank you, Lord, for Autumn!
~List your favorite colors. (I know this might sound silly but I love to hear about people’s favorite colors. Maybe it is because I have a 6 year old and these are things you discuss with 6 year olds)
*Pink has ALWAYS been my favorite but I love turquoise in my wardrobe and in my art.
~What is one thing you find most challenging about studying the Bible?
*For me, I love reading the Old Testament. The hardest thing for me is studying the historical context and knowing how and when the Old Testament verses apply to New Testament believers. I KNOW that the entire Bible is for our benefit, I’m just skiddish of taking Scripture out of context. Something I’m working on and studying these days!
Now it is YOUR turn. I can’t wait to read your LIST answers.

Join us on Monday for week 2 as we discuss Kingdom Perspective and Chapter 2 of Just RISE UP!
Praised God for: The change of season…but fall especially. The leaves remind me that letting go of the past is necessary in order to move into the future.
Outside my window: Drinking coffee at a Chick Fil A full of excited teenagers on their way to Friday classes and then the weekend. Across the parking lot there is a store named The Children’s Place.May there always be a place for the children in this world…ie let’s not mess it up too bad.
Colors: Hot pink and orange…together of course. What can I say? I am a child of the sixties.
Challenging About Bible Study: Choosing the passage and disciplining myself to sit with the scripture first…listening for God…before I resort to commentaries and the Google search
ooooh! I LOVE what you said about the leaves. Good stuff!
One thing I praised God about is His willing
to bless me even when I think I don’t deserve it and what I have been most excited about He blessed me so I am able to bless others with His gifts. That just makes my heart happy.
Looking out my window I can thank God for my wind chimes. They are made of glass and sound so pretty. I have this notion that when I hear them God is breathing on me. One of the reasons I love the warm weather is because I can sit out there in the morning and feel God. I know that the warm breeze I feel around me are His arms holding me. The birds flying & chirping are giving praise.
Favorite color: red. I love the boldness & now I think of it as the Blood of Jesus that has made me new.
Challenging about studying the Bible. One thing is me – not making/taking the time to do it. The other is not knowing how to really study it in depth.
I want to say that I started this study and I am so excited. The introduction itself was eye opening. I am taking is slow and a little behind but I am working on it and like it. I love to journal (although I am not faithful in it) but this study is pushing me and that is a blessing.
Thank you for doing this study and sharing your heart.
Donna! Thank you for the sweet, encouraging words!!
Praise- my son is in his first year of bowling and it has been a real struggle for him. He had a spare and a 54 game.
Out my window I see barren fields which provided bountiful crop yields this harvest.
Favorite color – probably soft golden wheat and burgandy
Challenging about studying the Bible- finding/making time for it daily. I am thankful I gave the weekend to catch up on Chapter 1
Deje! Enjoy your weekend!
Praise God for: my new art class that started this week. I know that’s shallow, but I have been waiting a few months and it’s finally here!!!
Out my window: I love the horizon to see the sunsets since tx is so flat.
Favorite colors: I am a pink-a-holic and I love the rich fall colors, the warms oranges and deep purples.
Challenging about studying the BIble: I have been making a real effort to memorize , I’m working on the book of James and it’s hard. It’s hard to stay motivated, it’s hard to remember, and it seems like everything gets jumbled or stuck on my head.
Tonya, I’m excited for you for the new class. Fun!
Praise-To be able to join in this wonderful study, even while waiting for a book
Out my window-Lots of leaves, and my beautiful bird bath a gift from my neighbor, and the sun is peeking out among the clouds It is quiet and peaceful to look out my window it is my sanctuary, and while most of the birds are gone now for the winter, it is a peaceful scene and good feeling knowing with God’s will the birds will return in the spring .
Favorite colors: Blue always, I collect blue glass and the deeper the blue the better, and sage green not sure why but it is just one of those colors that I find comforting.
Challenging in the Bible: I have trouble reading the old testament and the blood lines, get very confusing. I use bible gateway and use KJV and parallel with NIV , The Message or one of the easier to read/comprehend Bibles. I also have a difficult time memorizing verses. I get bits and prices of my favorites, but they somehow get mixed in my head.
I’m so glad you are joining in!

Praise this week is starting this study, it has already lifted my spirit and a start of a new journey to have a discipline to praise God at least daily!

Gig ‘Em Kim! So blessed by you.
What I’ve Praised This Week: The freedom and riches that we have in America. Though we probably don’t even deserve it or should be concerned about it, something as simple as going out to dinner and being served a plate of food by someone else is not a luxury everyone In this world has. Even at our poorest, we truly are kings and queens compared to some others in the world. I am grateful for the small things for God.
What’s Outside My Window: A gloomy sky, trees, my neighbors homes. The gloomy sky is a sign the cooler season is here, and I’m happy for that. I’m thankful for Gods love and all the good things to come to round out this year.
My Favorite Color: Aqua…it reminds me of water, which represents abundance of life..it reminds me of our oceans, which in its vastness, reminds me of freedom. Freedom & life..God blesses us with each. It’s just a happy color :)
Ashley! Great to hear from you, friend! I love your praise and I will join you in that. Amen!
– I praise God that I have a wonderful family. I had a girls weekend away with my mom and sister, and then a wonderful dinner at my parents house with my husband! I love Sunday dinners! Thank you, Lord, for my family and Sunday dinners! :)
– Right now it’s dark out so I praise God for making darkness and a time to allow our bodies to rest from the day.
– My favorite color is pink!!
Sounds wonderful, Jodie!
