Hands, Feet AND Mouth

This week I wrote about three of my girlfriends who inspire me to be the hands and feet of Jesus simply by the way they live out their faith.  I would love for you to check out my inspirational entry posted on She Seeks this week.

These women just do their everyday thing living out of the love for Christ and compassion for serving others because they know that by serving others, they are ultimately––and most importantly––serving Jesus.  Because of their example I am challenged today to think about my interactions with the world around me.  I could easily go about this busy Christmas season minding my own business and checking off the list that grows longer by the minute.

But what about the mom at Wal-Mart struggling to get her kids–in the midst major melt down–buckled up in the car while loading the multitude of plastic bags in the trunk? Maybe I could help take her cart back?

What about the family in my community that need just a bit of help to make it through the holidays? Maybe I could pitch in with my friends to buy some presents for their children?

Or what about the waitress at lunch who looks a bit rundown? Maybe a sweet word of encouragement is just what she needs to finish up her shift?

I pray that we will all open our eyes to those around us and take note of something we can do––big or small––to offer up the hope and love expressed to us every day by our LORD.

Lets not stop at just the act of doing these nice things.  Lets find someway to tell them why we take the time to love on them.

Many people do nice things during this time of year out of simple holiday cheer so what would make our actions any different?

This one verse sums it all up:

For to us a child is born,
to us a son is given,
and the government will be on his shoulders.
And he will be called
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Of the greatness of his government and peace
there will be no end.

  1. It is very important to take two seconds to speak the love of Jesus. It doesn’t have to be anything overtly “Christanise”. But it is vital to breathe the words that the Holy Spirit prompts us to. In doing so we can speak the words of healing to someone’s soul. It doesn’t cost us anything either. How strange it is that we would greedily hoard it, when it takes only a second of our time.
