Snow Globes & Comfort Zones

Some days I just wish life were contained in a comfy, simple snow globe cottage. Wouldn’t that be nice? Where we could snuggle in and just BE. But, the reality is that life is not as simple as my snow globe cottage. No. It is messy, and chaotic, and dramatic. And there are people outside our globes who need us even in our messy and dramatic and chaotic. You see, Jesus calls us to come, find rest. Snuggle in with Him, yes. But He also calls us to break out of our snow globe comfort zones and BE THE CHURCH. Be His hands. Walk in the shoes of the least of these which He loves dearly. Speak His truth with bold faith out of servant love. Yes. Let’s not stay in our snow globe cottages long this Christmas. Might I even say, let us RISE UP! and break through barriers that have so long kept us from fulfilling our God-given purpose…starting with making Jesus famous first.

When the lovely artist and all around inspiring woman, Jeanne Oliver asked me to participate and share my heart in the upcoming class Becoming I said YES! with out hesitation. I hope you will too!

I blogged about it several weeks ago but I wanted to give you a few sneak peek pictures of what I created for my art video. It is so fun and I know you will want to make a journal too.

During my time in the Becoming class I will share my story of what God is showing me personally about who I am in Christ. I can’t wait to encourage YOU as well in your own journey.

In case you missed my last blog post about Becoming, click HERE to read about the other teachers involved in Jeanne Oliver’s new class that starts in January 6!

Course Description (From Jeanne Oliver):

This January join 20 women for an 8 week study all about finding your true identity in Christ.  Each week you will hear unfolding stories from the women in this study.  We will be sharing truths about who the Lord says we are and our personal journeys to accepting those truths.

We will also have fun creative videos that follow the study where the women will share one of their gifts. Think guitar playing, bread making, painting, entertaining and more.  You know I can’t have a course without sharing how the Lord uses our creativity! My hope is that the study will give you fresh eyes for the Lord and yourself.  When we know who we are in Christ it changes everything and opens our paths and gifts in incredible new ways.
Some of us are carrying around “truths” about ourselves that are flat out lies and it time to lay them down

This study will be open and honest, real, Bible based and a bit of creativity too.  We hope you will join us January 6, 2015 for this free online study!

The LIST

The List

It’s time for another dose of THE LIST. Each Friday on LIVE IT OUT! I list a few fun questions so that we can get to know each other. Pure, fun, random.

Leave a comment with any or all of your answers to the following LIST.

~What’s your favorite recipe to cook?

Me: my go to for gatherings is my “famous” strawberry spinach salad. All it is is spinach, mandarine oranges, nuts, cucumbers, strawberries in the summer, dried cranberries in the fall/winter. To top it off, I use a raspberry vinaigrette. Easy peasy.

~One thing you would do if there were 26 hours in the day.

*Me: sleep more. Or read more books.

~What’s one answered prayer these days?

*Me: For my son, first grade has been challenging academically. I’ve been praying for patience and for him to work hard in order to improve. It’s happening! Thank you, Jesus!

~What is your biggest fear?

*Me: it is a tie between fear of heights and a fear of snakes. My 6 year old totally capitalized on this when he brought home a library book about snakes “just to freak my mom out.” Nice.

What is bringing you joy these days?

*Me: I’ve been making time to splash some paint around and get my hands messy with yummy color. Love it.
