Stress Point Wk 10: Girlfriend Interview

Well…the final Stress Point Girlfriend interview. I really loved this chapter because we finish off with the one thing that ties it all together–growing in our faith. I will post later this week with some thoughts about the conclusion chapter.

Meet my seriously sweet friend Wendy Blight. Wendy is one cool chick that knows a TON about the Bible. She is a Bible teacher, a mentor of mine and the girl can really pull off wearing awesome cowboy boots. (I’m secretly coveting her boots!) Check out what Wendy has to say…

Wendy, this week we are discussing how God uses our 20s to grow and stretch our faith. What was your faith like in your 20s?

Sarah, my faith was in crisis in my twenties. Just days after my college graduation at age 21, I entered my apartment to find an armed masked man waiting for me. He spent the afternoon sexually assaulting me. My faith went into a tailspin. I grew up Catholic and attended mass regularly with my family. I believed in God, but because of what happened to me, I questioned everything I had ever learned about Him. You see, I could not wrap my mind around how a good God, like the one I grew up believing in, could have watched from His throne in heaven and allowed what that man did to me. So I spent my twenties living in a prison of fear, angry at God, and searching for answers.

How have you grown in your faith since then? Continue Reading »»

Let’s Keep Going!

Wanted to take just a few minutes to pick your brain. As we are wrapping up the Stress Point Online study, I want to continue the conversation and write/talk about what matters to YOU. What are some topics that were in Stress Point that you want to talk about in more depth? What are burning issues or questions in your life that you’d like to flesh out?

Hugs to you all!

Here’s a great video to check out!

Stress Point Wk 10: Spiritual Maturity

Friends!! It is week ten and I must say that I’m such a proud “older sister” in seeing and hearing how God has moved through your lives this summer. Wow. Thank you for being vulnerable. Thank you for being real and laying it all out on the line. Thank you for allowing me to pour into your life. This has been a true dream come true for me: to be able to connect with young adult women and REALLY do life with you–even if it is online!

**PLEASE know that if you haven’t finished the chapters yet or you want to go back and review, I will have the archives to the Stress Point Online Study on the navigation bar drop down under Stress Point in pink. Take your time and soak in the WORD then come back here and share your thoughts. I’m always around to respond to your comments!

This week–Spiritual Maturity.

The Real (Video Blog)

The Raw (Discussion Questions)

~What girlfriend case study do you relate to most and why?

~In the first few pages of Stress Point chapter 10 (and in the video blog above) I listed out our working definition of Spiritual Maturity. What stands out to you the most? What aspect is most difficult for you?

~What are your thoughts about the idea that if we are not in constant motion toward the Throne of our King, moving towards Jesus, we are moving away from Him? Even a stagnant faith is seen as moving away from Jesus. This is not meant to discourage you, but to open your eyes that sometimes, our faith is stagnant.

The Relevant (Bible Study Discussion Questions)

~Take some time to re-read Worshiping At The Throne starting on page 222. I just LOVE this name of God: Adonai, Master. What are your thoughts on worshipping our God as our master? In this day and age this word is a bit negative. But based on the Bible, we so desperately need our loving, merciful Adonai, Master.

~We also discussed an “out of our comfort zone” type of worship. I so wish you could see how my sweet friend Lilly dances in praise to her King. (see girlfriend case study)  How can you break out of your comfort zone in your worship of your Adonai?

~On page 229 of Stress Point I mention Psalm 107:21-22):

Oh, that men would give thanks to the Lord for His goodness, And for His wonderful works to the children of men!

Let them sacrifice the sacrifices of thanksgiving,And declare His works with rejoicing.

What are your thoughts on Sacrifice of Thanksgiving (see page 229) and how can you replace and attitude of grumbling and complaining with that of praise to your King?

Okie Dokie, can’t wait to hear what you think. I will be checking in with more posts this week and an awesome Girlfriend Interview with my dear, awesome friend Wendy. I know you will love her.

Leave your thoughts and answers to the questions or anything, really, in this chapter. Let’s chat!
