Stress Point: Behind The Scenes #2

***Update! The winners of the CD giveaway are Ryan and Pam! Yay! I will send you an email to get your information!

Oh good gracious I just can’t WAIT for the release of my book Stress Point: Thriving Through Your Twenties In A Decade Of Drama. This JUNE! I’ve got so many fun things up my sleeve including an online study this summer for you to connect with other readers and dig into the word surrounding stress points in your life. (Think money, dating, friendships, career, etc!)

Stay tuned…

To gear up for the book release I’ve given some glimpses of the behind the scenes of writing Stress Point. Today I’m showing you the nitty gritty of how I dug in and actually wrote the book.

Let me tell you…it was TOUGH.

I loved every minute of it.

I stressed over every single word, sentence and paragraph–kinda ironic, right?

I squealed with glee when a certain concept that God downloaded into my heart made its way onto the page in just the right fashion.

I thought about YOU with every example. Would this be relevant to you? Would this help you grow closer to Jesus?

Want to know what helped me stay focused while I wrote Stress Point?

Music!

I can’t stand a quiet room.

Sometimes it was the super loud speakers blaring Mo-town at Starbucks.

But most of the time it came through my ear buds and my itunes sending sweet worship music to my heart.

Here is one of my favorite songs to jam to while writing. Meet Abbi Walker. A Texas Girl after my own heart with her soulful sound and passion to RISE UP! and make Jesus famous.

Don’t you just LOVE Abbi?!

In honor of my behind the scenes series and the release of Stress Point, I’m giving away TWO copies of Abbi’s cd Save Me. Be sure to check out Abbi’s site to hear more from this album.

So… in order to get some of this Abbi Walker goodness, leave me a comment answering this statement:

One thing I love most about being a 20-something is…

I will pick a winner on Friday. Are you excited? I am!

Stress Point: Behind The Scenes #2 — 23 Comments

  1. I absolutely love all the possibilities! There are so many opportunities open if I’ll but look. :D I have time (God willing) to reach people with my writing.

    • what i abosutley love about being in my tewnties is that i
can take the time to bless
      some i love to bless
      and encourge people
all the time thats what i love about being in my 20 somthings
i also love that God still gives me words to write music

  2. SO FUN!! I love these behind-the-scenes. Makes me want to read it even more, if that’s even possible ;).

One thing I love about being a 20-something is freedom! The freedom to explore new possibilities and gifts and jobs and ministries. With no husband/kids “tying me down” (haha that sounds terrible) I really do have the ability to let God and God alone lead and love me. I’m human, of course, so there are times when I’m ready to get on with the “next season” of my life, but honestly I treasure this one. I feel sad for young women who can’t find contentment in this stage of life, because I fully expect we’ll all look back on it with a sense of nostalgia when we’re feeding a baby at 2am. ;)

  3. So pumped for you!!! Can’t wait for Stress Point to release. :-)

One thing I love about being a 20-something is how many avenues of life are beginning to intersect. Jobs, school, dating, marriage, babies, babysitting, birthday parties for adults and kids, church, friends, mentors, flip flops…EVERYTHING! :-)

  4. One thing I love most about being a 20-something is…knowing that I have HUGE things instore for my life and being SO exctied to see what they are as God begins to reveal them! :)

  5. Funny, I’m having trouble remembering being a 20-something! I guess it was the freedom (no diaper bags to haul along, no bedtimes to be present for, no meals that must be served on time for hungry tummies, going for hikes and canoeing whenever the urge struck). However, I would never exchange my mommy situation for freedom. It races by way too fast anyway.

  6. The thing I love most about being a 20-something is that I have so many incredible experiences to look back on and smile about, but I still have SO many more to come, and only God knows about them! It’s so exciting to wake up each day not knowing how I will be blessed or how I might impact someone else. Every day is such an adventure and so exciting. I LOVE having so much to look forward to.

  7. What I love most about being 20 something is finding God so early in life, which enables me to pursue his guidance and direction in a way that maximises my chances in life to fulfill all that he has planned for me as a partner in Christ’s mission to reach the disenfranchised with radical love & hospitality. I’m pursuing my Masters in Theology so that I can teach His Word & touch as many lives as possible! My age allows enough wisdom to guide those younger yet connect with those older to learn from their experiences & help them in their spiritual growth as well.

  8. i’ve just entered into my twenties…i am too excited about it…the one thing that i love about this age is that i am still young and i can do so much to make my jesus famous in my life as well as in the lives of others..i have so much physical and mental strength to work for my lord and make him famous…

  9. The one thing I love most about being a 20-something is the POSSIBILITIES. There’s so much left to experience and I have the time, energy and curiosity to do it. :) There’s so much left unexplored and so much left un-lived.

  10. The absolute, hands-down, best thing about my 20s has been falling in love…with Jesus! I grew up in a Christian home, but it has been in this decade that I truly made that faith my own. I have become a woman of God and feel prepared to move to the fast-approaching 3-0 (Ok, so a few years isn’t exactly “FAST-approaching.” And yes, I’m on THAT side of my 20s decade). All I can say is that I feel I’ve come into God’s own during my 20s and am excited to continue the journey with Him leading and shaping me constantly!

  11. What I love about being in my 20s is that I found God at an early age and I can honor Him through my interactions with college students, in my work setting, spread His word to my husband and son. I can be a light for Him in areas that may have been harder to reach if I were older. I praise God for every avenue that leads me closer to Him!!

  12. I love being young enough to still be a child at heart but old enough to realize everything mom taught me was right even when i didnt want to believe her. I love starting my family, working on my home, playing with my children and enjoying my new found relationship with god.

  13. The thing I think I love the most about being a 20something is all the opportunities I have to just encounter God! I’m still single so it gives me the opportunity to go on mission trips to inner city or out of country places, I able to work with the youth at my church which keeps my accountable because I know I am an example. I get to keep my friends babies that I love like my own and the I get to give them back! I’m able to be a help to my parents who’ve always supported me, and I’m able to spend time with lots of different people. Sometimes I’m lonely and I want my life to “take off”, and I have bills and stress and things that distract me, but most days I love my life and I grateful to be young and alive and free to be who Im called to be! :)

  14. ONE THING I LOVE MOST ABOUT BEING A 20-SOMETHING IS…
That i still young enough that i’m so open to learning so much from others. I love the wisdom i can get from other God believing and following women! It really is encouraging to have women that can help encourage me and come along side me as i go through my 20’s.

  15. Great blog again Sarah.
ONE THING I LOVE MOST ABOUT BEING A 20-SOMETHING IS… having life awaiting in front of me with my Savior.
    Blessings,
    Becca
P.S: I love Abbi’s voice and this song Sarah!:)

  16. I love the idea of knowing that our twenty-somethings age group really is working to make a difference in the world. We are a passionate age group and I think offer a fresh perspective on the world today and how to make some positive changes. I love the opportunities that God is constanstly unfolding in my life and the excitment I have for the future!

Can’t wait for Stress Point to be released!!

  17. Oh My Gosh!! We NEED this book! We have just found out the horrible details of our daughters last year and a half! Things I wish I never had to hear!! She will be 21 in July. Thank you for writing this!! We appreciate your prayers too if you think about us! Blessings!!

  18. One Thing I love most about my 20s: “Is all that I am LEARNING: about myself, my Faith, my relationships with others, my profession, etc.
    : )
