James 3-Video Bible Study

It is Wednesday again! {isn’t it funny how that happens every week. hee hee} Take a look at the video and leave me your thoughts!

In the video I encouraged you to use scripture to define scripture. Look up in your Bible index the word Tongue, Words, Mouth or Speech. (just pick one) and tell me what you learned about how to “tame the tongue” as we discussed in James 3.

Leave a comment here and I can’t wait to read what God has taught you today! :)

James 3-Video Bible Study — 3 Comments

  1. Sarah great lesson. Last week I was just asking God what I could do with my bad words.(or rude comments).
It takes alot of thinking at work with frustrations hitting you all around. Guess what in seven days I have only said 7 bad words. Praise the Lord, he taps me everytime one comes out. It’s working. It is hard I must admit. Also working on the gossiping aspect of the tongue.. Thanks for the lesson today. I ‘m really trying hard to work on this. Thank you for the support from the bible. I am blessed to have you as a daughter!

  2. I looked up tongue and these verses really jumped out at me:

Col 3.17 whatever you do in WORD or deed, do it in the name of the Lord Jesus – wow -every one of my words is done as Jesus’s representative.

Psalm 39.1- I will guard my ways, that I may not sin with my tongue; I will guard my mouth with a muzzle,

Psalm 141.3 O LORD, set a guard at my mouth. Keep watch over the door of my lips

I learned that we represent God in every bit of our speech (oh dear- my impatient, cranky & rude times are giving God a bad reputation). I learned that I have a responsibility to DO something to muzzle my mouth because it is sin when I leave my mouth- I cannot do it on my own, my good intention will not bring my tongue in line- “no man can tame the tongue” we are to actively gag it- to stop it from speaking out those words that are evil, destructive & hurtful.
I also learned what your Mum learned-( I feel so blessed by your mumma’s comment- I thank God for Godly mumma’s to teach us) I can ask God and He will help me, He alone puts that guard there to teach and train us and to keep our tongue from sin.

I need to listen to His prompting, stop my mouth from speaking (gag it-& say less especially in situations where I will probably sin & misrepresent God!)

What an truly important study today- looking up all the verses on the tongue just stopped me in the Word & showed just how important it is to God because it was not mentioned once or twice but over and over again.

Thank you for taking the time to prepare and present this study, I really appreciate it,
Have a great day and I know I’m behind but I am really looking forward to the next lesson!

    In His Grace,
    C

  3. This lesson definitely spoke to me. I too, struggle with the things that I say, in particular, I also have had problems in the past with cursing. It still can be a struggle at times in the present. I have to really seek God and try to push myself to keep my tongue clean and my mind clear. I love that your referred back to James 1:19 because James 1:19 is one of my few life verses that I try to keep in my heart on a day to day basis. Love this post, Sarah!
