Wednesday Video Bible Study-James 2 — 2 Comments

  1. James 2:17, as you said, IS a controversial verse. I have often heard people from different denominations of churches ARGUE over this verse and it's true meaning. Some denominations believe that the way to heaven is ONLY works and some believe it is ONLY faith and then others believe it is both. I think that you really did your research and have hit the nail on the head when it comes to what this passage is trying to tell us!

To live out my faith, I can keep my focus on Jesus throughout each portion of every day, whether it be when I get frustrated while driving in rush hour traffic, or when I am at work and Jesus seems to be the last thing on my mind. People should be able to see that something is different about me and wonder what exactly it is. Being salt and light in the world is a great springboard for being able to share our faith with others, whom we may not be able to share with them otherwise!

  2. i Sarah,
Im so thankful for the work you have put in doing this video study. You are helping me learn so much. I too read the passage and went”Huh.. what about Romans” and I spent a good deal of time thinking and praying about this supposed contradiction to o.

I think that it is not an issue of salvation that James is talking about.
It wasnt that Abraham was or was not God’s own in the example it was where of not his actions lined up with what he was believing. Faith to the point of laying your own child on an alter is a huge internal stregnth of knowing exactly who God is.
We are in an age when so many have the biggest critisism of christians is they are saying one thing and then acting wrong.
I think in the simple everyday, we need to act in integrity- in work, home, the shops just as you said- showing Jesus to others through what we do. Thats not our salvation, God holds us securely, but in our life- our wlak- what we do should reflect His nature, care and compassion, not just what we say about ourselves. This is a great study and Im really appreciating it.
I loved having you in my kitchen this morning!!
    Looking forward to tomorrows,
    Hugs,
    In His Grace, Carolyn
