Be Heaven Minded

Yesterday I started a convo on Facebook with status updates about being “Heaven Minded.”

But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, who will transform our lowly body to be like his glorious body, by the power that enables him even to subject all things to himself. {Phil 3:20-21 ESV}

Check out this video by Jenn Johnson from Bethel Church. The last few minutes meditate on the words, “I wanna be heaven minded.” I can’t get over these lyrics. Here is what I tweeted and put on Facebook. A few of my friends joined in on the thoughts and I would love for you to do the same.

Heaven Minded: Not taking slights from friends personally. Offering up grace on the outside & in my heart instead.

Heaven Minded: Being ready for Jesus every single day no matter what false proclamations say.

Heaven Minded: Earthly decisions have eternal consequences. Will Jesus say: Well done my faithful one?

Heaven Minded: how we spend our money reflects the condition of our heart.

Heaven Minded: “You shall be holy, for I am Holy” 1 Peter 1:16. Join in on the convo. \

Brittany said — Heaven Minded: concentrating on sharing the love of Christ with those around me, especially those I may         experience conflict with, will have a much greater impact on eternity than focusing on “making my point” or “being right” in the moment.

Kristen said —  Heaven Minded: looking to Him when things don’t make sense and knowing He does have a purpose in all of this…..

So what about you? How can you be Heaven Minded? Is this something we can live out in our daily lives? Leave your thoughts in the comment section!

  1. being heaven-minded is a beautiful thing. it is definitely about making decisions as God would have us make decisions rather than thinking that the choices we make on our own are the correct ones. it is asking God to give us His heart and His emotions for those around us. when we want what God wants – when we put His will in front of our own – that is when we become heaven-minded. this song has been helpful in reminding me to put His purpose first.

  2. I feel being heaven minded is living everyday with an intentional connection to the heart of God. it’s easier said than done, definitely… but when we can get to a point where we consider Him and how He loves more often than we do not, we can enter that place of an open Heaven. God with us… moving us always.
