Road Rage — 2 Comments

  1. it is so funny that i got this in my email this morning. about two weeks ago God said ‘hey we need to work on your road rage. its just silly’. in seeing how worked up others have gotten in their road rage i suddenly saw myself outside of my self (granted i never gesture profanities but i def offer a grande ‘seriously!’ ‘MORON!’. i suddenly saw myself as a fool – like i had witnessed myself. gotta love it when the mirror is turned. ouch! i began thinking about this more and in my trying to view everyone as human, with a soul, with real problems, people that Jesus died for as well…I began seeing that we are all stressed, hurried, distracted, and dealing with storms in our life. when someone is going slow in the passing (fast) lane or pulls out in front of me…I am trying to stop…breath…and remember these things. as far as my quick lashing out, i think its easy when in such a quick and reactionary environment. while driving (we should be) are always on the defense. we are the center and everyone else is something on our path to getting where we want to go. when going throughout our day and presented with various situations i think its a little easier to evaluate before we react (with mind instead of emotion) however, while driving, and already on the defensive, we are quick to react with emotion (and whatever emotion we may have beneath the surface) and not evaluate the truly mundane-ness of the situation. So, I’m slowly getting better with this. Remembering, the road is not just for me and people are not just a ‘road block’. But we are all real people – all trying to get through this life – together! It is the grace you are talking about. Thank for this

  2. Chrissy…love what you said “we are all people– all trying to get through this life–together.” So true. This gives me perspective that we all have busy lives and to extend mercy when someone doesn’t treat me well.

    Thanks for the comment!
