Who Am I?

Hey Friends! In light of our Stress Point: Self Image topic I wanted to share a song that Helen shared with us in the comments this week. Helen-so so so glad you reminded me of this song. I listened to it on Youtube and had a wash of gratefulness overtake me thinking of WHO I AM in the eyes of my King. I hope this gives you encouragement, too.

Who Am I– Casting Crowns

Also, several of you have asked me to help with the answers to the Who Am I Journal in Stress Point Chapter 2. Some of you had a hard time because you just don’t know how to let the Lord show you how MUCH He LOVES you and cherishes you. If you feel like this, know that you are not alone. Know that you are so very special in the eyes of the Lord. When He sent His son Jesus to this earth, to the cross, to rise from the dead, the God of the Universe had YOU in mind.

When you have emotions that distract you from knowing who you are in Jesus, know that this DOES NOT negate in any way how God feels about you. When you make mistakes and sin, know that this in no way changes who you are in Jesus. When you are His, you are always His. Period.

Some of you also had a hard time with the Who Am I Journal maybe because I didn’t give enough examples. I thought I’d share a few more examples to help…

~Here is what I would write for my outer focus on the first example re: “I don’t have anything to offer, what guy would date me?”

~Outer focus based on Scripture example Isaiah 62:3: The Lord crafted me and made me beautiful in His eyes. I will allow His light to shine through me. I will let the great qualities he blessed me with to shine through. I have so much to offer in potential romantic relationships because God gave me a loving heart and a nurturing spirit that I long to pour out on someone els.

~Here’s what I’d write for the second outer focus example: Lord, my heart hurts because my friends totally burned me. But, first and foremost, I know that You are my ULTIMATE friend no matter what. I will cling to you. Help me to forgive my friends so that I don’t carry around a grudge.

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend. I’m hoping to catch up on some sleep. When I’m run-down and super tired, I’m susceptible to letting my guard down and fall prey to unhealthy thought processes! Don’t want that to happen, right? :)

***ALSO! Keep working on your Scripture Memory verse Proverbs 3:5-6. We will start a new one next Friday.

  1. I’d like to share what i put for the Outer Focus on the King for the “friendship” scenario.

“I can guard my heart as I attempt to re-pursue friendship with those who have burned or hurt me in the past. This way, I am focusing on the Lord by guarding my heart, but also trying to love those people who may just really need some love in their lives.”
