He Gives And Takes Away — 8 Comments

  1. Wow this is a toughy…. But I just keep reminding myself that he does give and take away and that everything tha happens is part of his good and perfect plan.

My best friends mom died a few years ago and I am still struggling with that at times its really hard.. Is it ok to still cry? about it?

    • Meg,
Of course it is still OK to cry. It’s always OK to cry as long as you know to pick up the pieces to put yourself back together and keep truckin’ on. I lost my grandma when I was 16, am now 25 and still, many times throughout the year, cry that she is not here with me. I wanted so badly for her to see my graduate and go to college, but she is better off where she is now and that’s what helps me dry the tears.

Sarah, thanks for that Thanksgiving thought :) My mom raised me to believe that “everything happens for a reason” and I know what she has always meant by that is that whatever it is, it is because God wants it that way. Often I get frustrated, sad, and upset that life isn’t going how I planned it, but eventually at the end of the day I realize that things will happen in His time, He has The Plan.

It helps to pray for the little things we enjoy in life – our individual freedom/rights, freedom to worship Him and share His word freely without fear of persecution, etc. (freedom many in the world do not have) – these things really help put my own selfish wants in perspective of what’s really important.

I really love this song..1. because the writer shares his story of losing his grandmother which brought him to Christ, which is also how it happened for me in my life and 2. I think it goes along with your theme of giving/taking.

      • Thanks for sharing this Ashley. I totally agree: it is such a good daily practice to praise God for little things in your life. It keeps things in perspective and it keeps the doors of conversation open between us and the Lord. Hugs!

  2. Amen so needed to hear that tonight!:) Thanks for that great blog Sarah!
And I love being in the worship team and raising my hands so high in worship and eyes closed and then open them to see the whole Church is into the song!! Love it!
That song has brought hope when I lost my sister in law a few years ago and it brings hope now as I face an unknown future!

      • Haha thanks well I’m not that gifted compare to some others but like a lady who did a School of Worship told me that works with my Church ” You have a beautiful heart of a Worshipper of Jesus!” That ‘s all I desire right there!:)I was so touched by her words!May I always keep on praising my Lord!
And I’m sure you can sing better than you think!:)
